Be a Hero.

Volunteers multiply our efforts and enrich our programs by sharing time, talent, and love with our community.  We are always looking for new members of our Harbor House family.  Below is a list of our current volunteer opportunities.  To begin the process or to learn more, contact our Volunteer Coordinator at nicole@hhministries.org or fill out our Volunteer Application.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • virtual tutoring

Virtual tutors are needed to help our students make-up for lost learning!  We'll train you and pair you with a student who you'll meet with once a week on Zoom.  In collaboration with classroom teachers and parents, you and your student will prioritize academic areas of focus and create engaging times of learning.  Tutors also have a chance to develop a positive relationship with the child through ice breaker games and socio-emotional check-ins.  If you have a heart of educational equity and seeing all children thrive during this difficult time, we'd love to have you join our team of virtual tutors.  On-going assistance and support are provided.    Application and background check are required.  To learn more about this opportunity, contact Nicole Ambriz.

  • Food distribution

Distribute food to families who need it on every 2nd and 4th Tuesday morning from 9:00-12:00.  Volunteers help set-up tables of pre-bagged food outside in our parking lot and then safely distribute the food to our clients.  Health screenings and temperature checks are done daily for all staff and volunteers.  Masks and gloves must be worn (we have both at Harbor House if needed).  Social distancing protocols are followed.  If you are interested, contact Nicole Ambriz.

  • enrichment Club leader

Cooking, basketball, art, dance, music, chess, legos, and more - what are your gifts and talents? Come share them with kids in our after-school program by volunteering as an enrichment club leader. We are looking for volunteers who can come one afternoon per week for an hour to teach an enrichment club of your choosing. Contact Nicole Ambriz for more information.

  • Facility Maintenance and gardening

Like to garden?  Are you handy at fixing things?  We could use you for various projects around Harbor House.  We have an 100+ year old, 7000 square foot facility with a large yard that always needs some attention.  Health screenings and temperature checks are done daily for all staff and volunteers.  To learn more about this opportunity, contact Nicole Ambriz.
