Youth Leadership Program

The Harbor House Youth Leadership Program (YLP) develops and encourages high school students in Oakland to be agents of positive change in their community. Participants have opportunities to discover and practice their inherent gifts and talents, develop safe and caring relationships with peers, adults, and mentor students in our K-5 after-school program. Interns meet together for daily debriefs to learn various aspects of leadership such as communication, emotional wellness, and professional skills for future employment.

Apply for the Internship

Students enrolled in an OUSD high school are welcome to apply for our internship positions. Priority is given to students from Oakland High School.

Junior Counselors

Middle school students have an opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills while assisting with our elementary summer day camp through our Junior Counselors program.  Students assist the younger students with day camp activities including games, crafts, book clubs, field trips and more.  Junior Counselors are given a small stipend and a week of sleep away camp just for them.
