Our Youth Leadership Program (YLP) offers high school students an opportunity to become community leaders by practicing hands-on work experience and doing life with all. Interns meet weekly for a leadership development seminar to learn various aspects of leadership such as communication, emotional wellness, and professional skills for future employment. Each intern chooses and researches a community issue of choice and participates in fieldwork either in person or online. Interns learn to become agents of change in their community by engaging issues such as food security, educational equity, and racial justice. In addition to gaining new friendships and tools for future success, each intern receives a $500 stipend from Harbor House for successfully completing a semester of the internship.
